Yirong Zhao, Ph.D.

Yirong Zhao has been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions postdoctoral fellow in the Sofer Group since November 2024, focusing on the development and application of aqueous batteries. She received her PhD in Physics from Lanzhou University, China, in 2023. From 2021 to 2023, Yirong Zhao worked as a visiting PhD student at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden, where she specialized in electrode materials for lithium ion batteries. In 2023–2024, she conducted a one-year postdoctoral study at the Technische Universität Dresden, investigating the application of noble metal aerogels in energy storage devices. In addition to her main research areas, Yirong Zhao’s interests include supercapacitors and micro-supercapacitors, carbon materials and their applications, as well as the development of flexible energy storage devices.
