Dr Jan Plutnar received his PhD in inorganic chemistry at Charles University in Prague in 2007. After
two short-term scientific missions at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) and at
KU in Leuven (Belgium) he continued working at Charles University in the area of bioinorganic
chemistry. He joined the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of
Sciences in 2011 working in the areas of organometallic chemistry of noble metals, fluorocarborane
chemistry and modifications of graphene and graphene-like materials. He has joined UCT in 2017 and
works in the area of preparation, modification and characterization of 2D materials using ALD,
photoelectron spectroscopy and others. He has (co)authored 61 articles with more than 1600
citations and one chapter in a book so far (h-index of 23).
