Rasmiya Shirin Chemban, M.Sc.

Rasmiya Shirin Chemban earned her BS–MS Dual Degree from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram, India, majoring in Physics with a minor in Chemistry. During her master’s research, she investigated electrical double-layer gating in two-dimensional (2D) materials using ionic gels to enhance charge carrier density, employing mechanical exfoliation and dry transfer techniques. Her minor project in Chemistry focused on determination of the two-photon absorption coefficient of nonlinear optical molecules using open-aperture white light continuum Z-scan technique. She also completed a summer internship at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, where she optimized a home-built vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) for macroscopic samples.Currently, she is a doctoral researcher in the Sofer Group at UCT Prague, where she explores and develops materials for high-performance thermoelectric applications, primarily prepared via electrochemical exfoliation methods. She also prepares ionic gels for device applications.
