Rasmita Barik, Ph.D. (CHEMFELLS VI stipend)

Rasmita Barik is currently working in Sofer group as CHEMFell VI fellow from May 2024. She will be working on various anode cathode materials and solid electrolytes for the sustainable and energy efficient batteries.  Prior to this she has several postdoctoral experiences from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and University of Johannesburg, South Africa (with Global Excellence Stature (GES) Postdoctoral Fellowship). She has completed her PhD from Utkal University and CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, India in Chemistry, with DST-Inspire Fellowship by Government of India and also received best thesis award from Odisha Chemical Society, Odisha. She received her master’s degree in Chemistry from Berhampur University, Berhampur in India in 2009 with 1st position (Gold medalist). She has been working on the synthesis of different metal oxide/sulfides, Polymer based materials via various synthesis methods and electro spun fibers for supercapacitors. She has hand on experience on solid polymer electrolytes and silicon anode, NMC cathode materials. She was also working on recovery of valuable metals from spent catalyst or sea-based nodules through hydrometallurgical processing. She is an active reviewer of some international peer reviewed journals such as Electrochemica Acta, Chemical Engineering, Diamond and related materials, Journal of Material Sc., Hydrometallurgy, ACS Applied Nano, J. Solid state Chem., J. electroanalytical Chemistry, J. Colloid and Interface Sci. etc.
