Muhammad Idrees, Ph.D. (CHEMFELLS VII stipend)
Muhammad Idrees joined the Sofer Group as a CHEMFELLS VII Fellow at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Chemistry and Technology (UCT), Prague, Czech Republic. He is a materials chemist with a strong background in functional materials and electrochemical energy storage. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the prestigious Northwestern Polytechnical University, China, through the CSC Graduate Program, and received the Outstanding PhD Graduation Award (2019). In recognition of his academic excellence and research contributions, he received multiple honors, including the CSC Scholarship, NPU Wu Yajun Scholarship (2017–2018), and CSC Excellent Student Certificate. After his PhD, Dr. Idrees served as an Assistant Professor at XJTU-YUL, China, and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Additive Manufacturing Institute, Shenzhen University (2020–2022), followed by a joint researcher position at USTC-DGUT (2022–2025). He has been the recipient of several competitive research grants and fellowships, including funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and National and Provincial Science and Technology Projects. His current research focuses on designing multifunctional hybrid materials, especially the 3D printing of polymer-derived ceramics coordinated with MOFs for electrochemical energy storage applications.
